The Nîmes 2024 festival took place from May 31 to July 20. From Eric Clapton to Big Flo and Oli, nineteen concerts were organized welcoming a total of 190,000 spectators. Nineteen concerts and two others which were not part of the festival provided by Dua Lipa. And it was undoubtedly these two who were the highlight of this musical summer. June 12 and 13 were the only dates in France for the British artist of Albanian origin who captivated the Nîmes amphitheater and the 20,000 people present on both evenings. A few days earlier, on the set of the France 2 newspaper, Dua Lipa had declared: “I really liked the idea of ​​singing in arenas. »

Contemporaine de Nîmes: a successful first edition

2024 was marked in Nîmes by the first edition of Contemporaine, a triennial organized by the city which brought together more than 50 artists in 25 locations scattered across the city. The event also mobilized more than 600 residents of Nîmes, directly involved in the creation of artistic projects. When it comes time to take stock: 80,826 visitors visited this new event, to which should be added the approximately 96,000 people who came to admire the works in the public space.

The Nîmes Métropole Jazz Festival: jazz in all its forms!

Created in 2006 by the Agglo, the Nîmes Métropole Jazz Festival (NMJF) covers a large part of the territory. A local festival therefore, which highlights, once again this year on the occasion of the 18th edition, some of the greatest musicians, whether local or international! In 2024, the Nîmes Métropole Jazz festival has indeed pulled out all the stops: from Fatoumata Diawara to Ayo, via Flavia Coelho, José James and Kareen Guiock-Thuram, some thirteen headliners have taken turns on the different stages of the event.

A Gard pizza chef who is a double world champion

It was in Rome, during a competition weekend, that pizza chef Saber Rodmani, owner of My Pizza located at 9 rue Dhuoda in Nîmes, won two prestigious titles during the world pizza championship. He became the winner of two major prizes: the influencer prize, where the public was able to express their opinion, and the Nation Team prize, won alongside his partners Ivan and Laurent, with whom he proudly represented France . Together, they beat the Italians on their home turf. In addition to these victories, Saber Rodmani received an honorable mention for its dessert pizza. All its products highlight the riches of the local terroir and the authentic flavors of the south of France.

A Gardois becomes the youngest pilot in France

Baptiste, a high school student at the Institut D'Alzon in Nîmes, made the history of the AéroClub du Gard by becoming the youngest pilot in France. On his 17th birthday, he reached a major milestone by obtaining his private pilot's license, an achievement which made him the youngest pilot in France. Passionate about aviation since a young age, Baptiste followed in the footsteps of his father, a navy pilot. From the age of 15, he nurtured his dream of aviation and, upon entering high school, he fully devoted his energy to this passion.
