After saving in 2024, a large majority of French people will receive their bank interest. They will receive on average 212 euros in their Livret A account.
Here is some news that will delight you for the start of 2025. In a few days, 56 million French people, or 80% of the population, will receive a sum directly paid by their bank. This sum will amount to 212 euros on average, depending on the profiles and situations of customers, reported the site DemotivatorFriday December 27.
And this will do good because, according to a study published by the CSA, the hole in the wallet amounted to 497 euros on average per French person in November, a drop of 52 euros compared to 2023. The transfer will not, however, come not top up your current account but rather one of the most popular savings accounts in France: the Livret A. And this despite a ceiling set at 22,950 euros. On average, savers place an average of 7,077 euros in their Livret A account. With a rate of 3%, this investment will therefore earn them 212 euros at the end of the year, reported The Parisian.
Rates falling in 2025
The remuneration of savings accounts could fall in 2025. Firstly because of the slowdown in inflation, but also because high rates over a prolonged period slow down investment and consumption. The Livret A rate should therefore reach 2.5% on February 1, 2025 instead of 3%.
In 2023, the total outstanding amount of Livret A had reached a historic level of 414 billion euros. In a report published last July, the French have never saved so much, according to the Banque de France.
