Terrible accident on the M7 in the metropolis of Lyon this Sunday, December 29, 2024 near Feyzin, in the south of the city. An accident between two cars that occurred around 5:20 a.m. one dead and at least five injured several of which are in absolute emergency, news Lyon learned from the firefighters and the Rhône prefecture.
“Following a road accident near Feyzin, the A7 motorway is closed for an indefinite period towards Marseille to allow emergency services to intervene. a diversion is being implemented via the D301 departmental road,” announced the prefecture this morning.
Since 9 a.m., the motorway axis was able to reopen.
Wrong-way car takes M7
According to the first elements, a lone motorist in his “ghost” vehicle took the M7 in the wrong direction in the Lyon-Marseille direction for a reason still unknown. The car hit another one coming in front.
In the hit vehicle, five passengers aged around 20 were injured. One of the occupants is dead, three are in absolute emergency and another in relative emergency. The driver of the wrong-way car was also injured.
The balance sheet therefore stands at one dead and five injured including three in serious condition.
Wrong-way driver slightly injured
An investigation has been opened to determine the circumstances of the tragedy.
The driver of the car going the wrong way, in a relative emergency, will have to be interviewed by the men of the CRS motorway in charge of the investigations.
