Sunday December 29, 2024, shortly before 2 p.m., two women were riding on horseback on the beach of Rochebonne in Saint-Malo (Ille-et-Vilaine) when suddenly one of the mammals collapsed.
“He felt unwell while galloping, I fell quite hard and unfortunately this discomfort was fatal for the horse,” explains Laura Josset in Pays Malouin.
Two fractures
Transported by firefighters to Saint-Malo hospital, the young woman suffered two fractures to the sternum and hip and numerous bruises.
Why this sudden death?
The veterinarian could only note the death of the horse. The cause of his death is not known. “We don’t really know, we think of a ruptured aneurysm or perhaps his medical history which caught up with him,” adds Laura Josset who remains shocked by this accident. “When you are passionate about horses, being powerless in the face of such a situation is a nightmare. »
