Club Brugge won 4-3 against Westerlo this Thursday. With a double, Hugo Siquet emerged as the great hero of this meeting.
Hugo Siquet comes a long way. The player signed for Club Brugge this summer with firm and great ambitions. However, this did not go as planned. Siquet found himself in core B. His double when he came into play this Thursday against Westerlo then sounded like revenge.
“It was a really, really difficult time for me and for my family,” he said post-match on the microphone of Sporza. “But I always showed maturity and trained hard to be ready when the team needed me.”
Entering the game, Siquet was directly decisive and curled the ball perfectly to make it 3-2. “I was able to play very high and show my offensive qualities,” he explained. “When I saw the ball coming, I didn’t hesitate. And it went in beautifully.”
He then gave Bruges victory in the final moments, scoring from the penalty spot. “Hans (Vanaken) told me I could take the penalty,” he continued. He then displayed great ambitions.
“I’m really happy at the moment, but I remain ambitious. I now want to prove that I belong here. That’s always what I wanted when I came to Club Brugge. My goal is to continue this launched.”
