César Peixoto: “We will face a team with quality”

Moreirense coach approached the market saying he wanted to avoid departures in January

Moreirense is coming off two consecutive defeats, but César Peixoto is confident of a good response from the canons, this Saturday, when they visit Estoril, in matchday 16 of the Portugal League.

In the preview of the meeting scheduled for 6pm, the coach stated that the last two games were decided in detail and in which individual failures compromised the points: “I think we have been competitive, whether with the big players, we have scored, fortunately, after with the little ones, I would say, with the teams at our level, we have failed here or there, in details. At Nacional I think we played a bad game, we have to admit it, but in the rest of the games I think we did well. They were decided on the details and some individual flaws. In this sense, we want to rectify these games now, remove these mistakes, to be able to score points. We come here from a month where we had a lot of big games, which changes the day to day life a little, the expectations of the club, of the players. Now we are going to enter a series of games with teams from our championship, at our level, where we have to be consistent and score again to continue having a smooth championship. Therefore, we are focused at this stage on scoring points, on finishing the first round in the best way, with the greatest number of points possible, and then finishing the second round more calmly”.

César Peixoto considered that Estoril has good players, especially in midfield. Furthermore, he noted that Ian Cathro's team presents dynamics that confuse the opponent: “I believe there will be two teams that want to win, Estoril at home motivated, with the support of their fans. We know we will encounter difficulties, but we also know that we are a strong team, very organized, with a lot of quality and we will want to compete for the three points there. We always try to win every game, whether away or at home, to be a competitive team. We know that Estoril has a squad with a lot of individual quality, it has a lot of good players, especially Estoril's midfield is very strong, with dynamics that sometimes confuse the opponent, but we are prepared for that”.

The Corinthians coach understands that points become increasingly more expensive as the championship progresses: “The difficulty in the games is increasing, with teams that were well ranked up here, losing points to teams that were more distressed at the bottom, or In other words, the points start to become more and more expensive and this will increasingly be the case in the second round”.

The winter market was also the target of questions from journalists and César Peixoto expressed his desire not to let any player leave in January, to fight for a place in the middle of the table or higher.

“I'm happy with the squad I have, for me no one would leave, but this issue isn't just about me, we have players with a lot of quality, who have to be valued, players who have appeared, who last year weren't starters and have appeared a lot. I want to focus on my players who have given me a fantastic response, we have two players per position with a lot of quality, here or there we are having some difficulty, we had Liberato's injury, which made it impossible for us to have another option in midfield. We will have time to address this issue, I am happy with the squad I have, with the players I have, for me they are the best players, I have absolutely no doubt. I don't know what will happen from now on, but I hope everyone continues, so we can have a smooth season and be able to move from mid-table to top like we have been doing”, he highlighted.

Moreirense travels to Estoril, in a game from the 16th round of the League scheduled for 6pm on Saturday, a game that will be followed on the special sports edition of Rádio Vizela.
