Christian Robert, aka weather man, gives us his observations concerning the weather during this seasonal autumn which began on September 22 and ended on December 20.

Already this late season is certainly one of the least sunny in recent years despite favorable anticyclonic conditions. There were only 36 sunny days lasting more than an hour. And in October, it was two days out of three without a single ray of sunshine. The sky was most often covered and the humidity stuck to the ground.

Fluctuating temperatures

On September 22 and 23, the thermometer nevertheless indicated 22°C. But temperatures quickly dropped on the 30th with 5°C and 13°C respectively. Apart from the rather cool first and last days of October, they remained mild. On the 21st, it was 21°C while, on the last day of the month, it was only 12°C.

In October, no days of frost were noted, which is not frequent. The nights were rather pleasant. The hottest was on the 8th with 15°C and the coolest 4°C on the 13th. In November, between the 20th and 23rd, the mercury however dropped to -2°C. It was immediately followed by a spectacular rise two days in a row to 16°C!

Nighttime temperatures remained within normal limits the rest of the time; those of the first 20 days of December were fluctuating, sometimes cool, in the morning and during the day, with temperatures sometimes negative, -2°C on 1is 4 and 14, sometimes well tempered on 2 and 18 (11°C), 6 and 7 (10°) and 19 (12°C).

Agricultural work disrupted

The calendar summer ended on an optimistic note with around ten sunny days but, at the start of autumn, the rain returned more abundantly. The rain gauge recorded 58 mm in three days, from September 24 to 26.

Agriculture suffered greatly from this weather, compromising the last harvests and sowings. The first half of October was rainy and we will remember the torrential rains of the 9th with 33 mm.

The end of the month ended a very disrupted year. If the first half of November was calm, we will have to wait until the second half for significant rain. From the 17th to the 19th, precipitation, accompanied by wind, swept through our region bringing a cumulative 54 mm of water.

Note a slight snow episode, 3.5 cm thick, affected our territory on December 22, with a few gusts of wind.
