And the French newspaper rightly writes that this thing cannot end like this. Because Singo “did not receive any sanction from referee Letexier”. He was already booked, he didn’t even get a yellow card. He should have been expelled. How is this possible?
Le Parisien reports: “We were in the 17th minute when Wilfried Singo, launched at full speed by Breel Embolo on the left of the Parisian defence, enters the area and pushes the ball a little too much in his final control. “Letexier considered that Singo’s fault was the result of a non-reckless attitude. The referee considered that the Monegasque had failed to take precautions but that there was no dangerous intent. This is his interpretation of the rule”explains Bruno Derrien, former international referee.
During the interval Donnarumma asked Letexier for explanations. The referee remained silent. Marquinhos, the PSG captain, commented: “We have to protect the players. In a situation like this, the fact that there is no red light is incredible.”
