The Seine-et-Marne Assize Court sentenced a mother on Wednesday December 4, 2024 for killing her five-month-old baby by shaking him, in July 2020 in Torcy (Seine-et-Marne), reports The Parisian . She was also found guilty of violence against her other child for acts committed in December 2021, the victim was then four months old. The latter has been placed.
She denies wanting to harm her baby
Despite her denials, this mother received 12 years of criminal imprisonment for intentional violence against a minor under the age of fifteen leading to death without the intention of passing her on. She is also subject to socio-judicial monitoring for three years.
According to her statements, she shook her son to amuse him, but without intending to cause harm. The attorney general, who had requested sixteen years of imprisonment, underlined “a major risk of recurrence on another child” as well as “the absence of questioning” of the accused.
