Codacons attacks rappers competing at the Sanremo Festival

Last week, the Codacons had warned Rai and Carlo Conti “had brought to Sanremo artists whose songs were characterized in the past by violence, insults towards women and sexist content” and had explicitly mentioned the name of Tony Effe.

Today, immediately after the announcement of the 30 big names in the race, the association released a press release in which it announced that it is evaluating the legal actions to be taken:

“Rai and Carlo Conti have decided to reward violent rappers and trappers with dangerous lyrics by including them in the casting of the next Sanremo festival. A very serious decision which cancels years and years of struggles and awareness-raising activities against gender violence, homophobia, harassment and which offends millions of Italian women.

We are evaluating possible legal initiatives to be taken to block the participation of rappers chosen by Carlo Conti at the next Sanremo festival.
