The return of sunny days is accompanied by road accidents in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. Three involved two-wheelers this Sunday – two motorcyclists lost their lives.

The most serious of the accidents took place in the north of the department, in Beaujeu, between Digne-les-Bains and Seyne-les-Alpes, at the foot of the Col du Labouret. Two motorcycles collided head-on at 11:40 a.m. The two drivers, both Italians, died. The passenger of one of the vehicles, seriously injured, was evacuated by the gendarmerie helicopter to a Marseille hospital.

19 rescuers from Sdis 04 coming from the barracks of Digne-les-Bains and Seyne-les-Alpes with the reinforcement of the Smur of Digne-les-Bains were mobilized.

Earlier, two people were injured in a motorcycle-car collision in Roumoules. Firefighters from Riez, Puimoisson and Valensole responded to the scene of the accident on the Moustiers-Sainte-Marie road. The 59-year-old driver of the motorcycle and his 68-year-old passenger were both slightly injured. The passenger was evacuated to Manosque hospital. A 19-year-old man in the private vehicle was unharmed. Twelve Bas-Alpes firefighters were deployed to the scene, as well as the Manosque Smur.
