– Thomas Cazenave, Minister responsible for Public Accounts, wants to speed up the hunt for undeclared buildings.

After swimming pools, the tax authorities have two new parts of your home in their sights, namely the verandas and garden sheds. The administration is therefore continuing its fight against fraud in 2024, after focusing on owners’ swimming pools: 140,000 of them had been identified as undeclared last year, reports Sud Ouest on June 29, 2024. An additional 40 million euros. This money will benefit local authorities. Thomas Cazenave, Minister for Public Accounts, therefore wants to accelerate the hunt for undeclared buildings.

If you have an undeclared property, before you panic, know that not all buildings are necessarily to announce. Indeed, if the floor area is less than 5 square meters, you do not have to declare the garden shed or veranda to the tax authorities. However, your municipality may have established specific rules on the matter. If the floor area is between 5 and 20 square meters, the declaration is mandatory. The CERFA form n°13703*07 must therefore be completed and filed at the town hall. Similarly, a CERFA form n°13703*07 must be submitted to the municipality.
