While everyone expected Palworld to be in trouble, the “Pokémon with guns” likely managed to slip through Nintendo’s cracks.

Palworld remains calm

Against all odds, the game Palworld seems to have avoided any discord with Nintendo. In a recent interview with Game File Pocketpair studio CEO and game creator Takuro Mizobe has assured that his teams have never been contacted by Nintendo, despite the striking resemblance between Palworld and Pokémon.

We haven’t heard anything. Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have never told us anything.said the CEO. A reassuring statement, especially when we know that The Pokémon Company had stated that it intended to investigate possible intellectual property rights violations shortly after the game’s release.

An assumed plagiarism

Pocketpair has never hidden its inspirations which are obviously transparent with Palworld. The game takes the famous Pokémon formula identically while enriching it and twisting it with gunfighting, crafting and survival elements. The software also flirts dangerously with plagiarism as its creatures resemble those we encounter in Pokémon. Regardless, this recipe completely won over players as Palworld distinguished itself by crossing the barrier of 12 million copies sold just a few days after its launch. Recently, the game received its first major update called Sakurajima which adds a new island to explore as well as many new features. In addition, the title should arrive soon on PS5. Hopefully Pocketpair will manage to stay out of reach as Palworld updates.
