A judicial investigation was opened and the accused “was indicted for murder by partner and unauthorized possession of narcotics”the Bordeaux public prosecutor’s office explained to AFP.
Custody
According to initial information, the woman, aged 42, died during the night from Wednesday to Thursday after falling from the 8th floor of a building in Bouscat.
The suspect, a “marginal” known to the police, was arrested immediately and placed in police custody. He was the subject of a “provisional incarceration order”, pending a hearing on Tuesday before the judge of liberties and detention.
On average, a feminicide occurs every three days in France. According to the Minister of Justice, Eric Dupond-Moretti, there were 94 femicides in 2023, after 118 in 2022.
