In the city center of Metz (Moselle), a building was the victim of a violent fire, Sunday November 17, 2024. It houses housing, but also the luthier Bertrand Didier and the librairie Feelings.

“It’s an institution in Metz”recalls Alain, looking sadly at the Hisler bookstore whose window is blackened by smoke. On rue Ambroise-Thomas, near the cathedral, the bookstore has been established for more than 140 years.
For her part, Valérie, a resident of Metz, discovers the extent of the damage. She didn’t think the Hisler bookstore had been impacted: “I was just on my way there. It is very, very old. It is an institution. It's sad to see her like this. »

The inhabitants of Metz express their support

Like the residents of the affected building, the Hisler bookstore does not know when it will be able to reopen: “ Closed until further notice», She says on her website.
Violin maker Betrand Didier suffered “collateral damage”
A few steps away, we find the luthier Bertrand Didier. The burned building houses its commercial unit: “We were, fortunately, not directly affected by the fire, but suffered collateral damage(smoke, water, etc.),” he explains on his site.
“Our store and workshop will probably not be able tonot reopen its doors in the coming weekshe warns. Our priority will be to be able to welcome you in a temporary structure as quickly as possible. »
