After Washington’s decision to authorize Ukraine to strike Russia with long-range missiles, Emmanuel Macron and Keir Starmer reaffirmed their support for Kyiv.

At the opening of the G20 summit this Monday, the leaders present took the traditional group photo. Several leaders were missing: Giorgia Meloni, Justin Trudeau and especially President Joe Biden, who arrived late in Rio.
His decision on Sunday to authorize Ukraine to strike targets on Russian territory with long-range missiles supplied by the United States came as a surprise.
A green light welcomed by London and Paris.
“This represents a thousand days of aggression by Russia and a thousand days of sacrifice by Ukraine. We must redouble our efforts. And make sure that Ukraine has means, for as long as necessary. Because we cannot allow Putin to win this war.”declared Keir Starmer, British Prime Minister.
“The only power escalating this conflict today is Russia, involving North Korea, known to be a very aggressive power engaged in a nuclear program and armed with long-range missiles. We are witnessing a turning point in this war which led to the choice of the Americans”declared Emmanuel Macron to the press, on the sidelines of the G20 summit.
On Monday, Paris recalled that the use of French missiles on Russian soil was “an option”.
However, Washington’s green light is not unanimous among NATO member countries, and comes, according to experts, too late to change the balance of power on the front.
