There’s not much left of the house. Route des prairies in Assigny, delegated commune of Petit-Caux (Seine-Maritime), the firefighters were called in the middle of the night on Tuesday November 19, 2024 at 1:10 a.m. for a feu of housing.

When they arrived, the house was “completely engulfed in flames”. The two residents, a couple in their seventies, were evacuated before help arrived.

The man suffered minor burns to his hands and head, while the woman suffered significant smoke inhalation. They were transported to the Dieppe hospital center.

At 3:15 a.m., the main fire was extinguished and firefighters managed to prevent it from spreading to a nearby shed.

According to the deputy mayor of Assigny, Daniel Bucaille, who attended the fire brigade’s operations, the fire apparently started at a wood stove.

“There is nothing left at all,” he whispers. The elected official works with the municipal social action center to rehouse the couple.
