“The year’s programming is almost complete! “, spear Jimmy Fauvelof the collective The Machinein Dieppe (Seine-Maritime). Until April, concerts are on hold. “And I’m working on the months of May and June,” he smiles.
After three years of existence, the results are “terrific”. The programmer continues: “From a slightly crazy idea, we managed to create a beautiful structure that is gaining momentum. »
Only good feedback
The year 2024 was beyond its expectations with concerts all year round and a festival in September at the Saltimbanques de l’impossible marquee, in the landscaped park of Neuville. The Murderous Vulvasheadlining, sold out on Saturday evening.
“We have only had good feedback,” says Jimmy Fauvel. And now, the current music festival shines at the regional level with spectators coming fromAmiens, Beauvais, Rouen, Caen, Le Havre… A date has already been set for next year: The Boujou Machine will launch the “turbines” September 20 and 21, 2025.
A partnership with DSN
One of the new features of this season is the partnership established with DSN. Three concerts will be given there: Skeleton band the January 17, Black Doldrums the 29 mars et Horizontal Francis the 12 avril. But also an original event with a cinema-concert around theepisode 3 from the tenth season of the series Breaking badthe November 29in the large DSN room.
The Maison Jacques-Préverthas Januaryremains a faithful ally of La Machine with an electro evening on 8 mars for women’s rights day, and the post-punk of Zero Poetry et Requirements boca the 11 avril. An unusual place has been added to the program: the bakery Popular breads, place Louis-Vitet. The gauge will be 45 people for the concert Jawbreaker. “And we are looking for residents who would agree to organize events at their home,” underlines Jimmy Fauvel in the context of new projects.
Broader aesthetics
For this new season, La Machine’s programming is moving towards broader aesthetics such as folk, blues, lyrics, rap, reggae… But of course, “we keep the rock, the punk and the ‘electro. We want to reach all audiences,” specifies the programmer of the collective which has around 200 members.
In addition, countryside concerts will be organized as at Tourville-sur-Arques the December 2 where the Cie Paon-Paon Cui-Cui will give a show for young audiences in the village hall. And it’s not over yet!
Disability is a situation that is close to the collective’s heart, so an electro dance ball called Club will be held in structures welcoming this public, under the leadership of Celine Davenasthe coordinator of this project for La Machine.
An old candle factory in Gueures
The other important objective of the collective: the opening of a concert venue. After the hope of carrying out work in an old hangar, avenue de la République in Neuville – project ultimately aborted – it is up to Gueures that La Machine says he has found his happiness.
“15 kilometers from Dieppe,” remarks Jimmy Fauvel. In an old candle shop. A place steeped in history which will be one of the rare places for current music in rural areas. We see it as a tool for cultural proliferation and initiatives. »
The room could accommodate 240 people. A community bar will be open every weekend. The work would begin at the start of the year for an opening, at most in 2026.
