The Bluffton-Harrison School Board made a major announcement Monday, revealing that current Assistant Principal Stacy Morrison is set to take the reins as principal following the retirement of Principal Steve Baker.
Morrison brings a wealth of experience to her new position, having served as an assistant principal for an impressive 15 years, in addition to 13 years of teaching at the middle and high school levels. According to Superintendent Brad Yates, her extensive background prepares her well for the challenges of leadership.
The board’s decision to promote Morrison was met with unanimous approval. Board member Mike Murray expressed his excitement, saying, “I’m thrilled for Ms. Morrison. She’s going to do a great job…I’m thrilled that we’ve found someone within our ranks to take on this responsibility.” “
Beyond her administrative roles, Morrison has extensive coaching experience, having led the softball team from 1996 to 1999 and the volleyball team for two terms: from 1996 to 2001 and from 2018 to 2023. She has also actively contributed as an advisor to Business Professionals of America for several years and has co-advised the BHS Student Council since 2003.
Expressing his vision for the future, Morrison said: “My commitment to maintaining excellence while fostering the positive culture that defines our school remains a top priority. I have been fortunate to work in a caring community and with a school board dedicated to improving the lives of students I am deeply grateful for Superintendent Baker’s guidance and guidance; his unwavering dedication to BHS has been inspiring.”
