Victim of an accident during reconnaissance of the Polish rally and replaced by Kalle Rovanperä, Sébastien Ogier gave positive news via social networks.
Sébastien Ogier is doing well. This Tuesday, the eight-time world champion was the victim of a road accident during reconnaissance of the Polish rally. While he was taking notes with his co-driver Vincent Landais on the Goldap timed sector, which will be the 10th and 14th special stages of the event, the Gapençais collided head-on with another vehicle.
Transported to a hospital located near the scene of the accident, Sébastien Ogier, his co-pilot and the two people present in the other vehicle underwent examinations which did not reveal any injuries. However, the French driver had to spend the night under observation and was therefore forced to withdraw from the Polish rally, which was to be his fifth appearance this season. The Toyota team then obtained from the FIA commissioners its replacement at short notice by reigning world champion Kalle Rovanperä.
Ogier: “I already feel much better”
At the end of this Wednesday morning, Sébastien Ogier broke the silence through a message published on social networks to which is attached a photo showing him with a neck brace. “I had to spend the night in the hospital but I already feel much better,” he confided. We are unable to participate in the rally, which is a shame, but the most important thing is that everyone involved is safe. Thank you for all the messages received. I am now on my way back to rest and make sure I get back in great shape soon.
