The abandonment of pets is a scourge that is sadly spreading and to fight against this, Solidarité Peuple Animal is organizing a new “Croquette March” this Saturday, June 29, in Paris. A way to denounce these cruel actions, on the occasion of World Day Against Abandonment.
A pet is abandoned every two minutes in France. A dramatic assessment, which suggests that many French people are not yet aware of the seriousness of this act.
For the Solidarité Peuple Animal collective, fighting against abandonment is a real necessity, hence the interest in organizing a march in order to raise public awareness and help shelters and associations. In France, there are no less than 300,000 abandonments per year, causing a real saturation for associations which can almost no longer take in our four-legged friends and ensure their care.
Solidarité Peuple Animal is therefore organizing a new “Marche des Croquettes” which begins this Saturday, on the occasion of the World Day against Abandonment.
A journey adaptable to everyone
The principle of the Marche des Croquettes is simple: each kilometer covered by a walker becomes a meal offered to an animal. All you have to do is register on the marchedescroquettes.com website, choose the desired distance, between 2, 10 and 25 km, then fill out a form and pay a registration fee of 5 euros per person.
The meeting is at 10am on Place Georges Moustaki, in the 5th arrondissement of the capital. Registration is therefore mandatory in order to count as accurately as possible the number of meals given to the animals. This initiative based on the principle of everyone’s commitment and trust, the Virtual Walk will continue during the summer and will close on September 15, during the Woofest event, in Bertichères in the Paris region.
To make their actions heard as much as possible, the Solidarité Peuple Animal collective organized a powerful action. No less than 720 animal stuffed animals were placed on Place de la République. A way to materialize their fight. These soft toys will be symbolically adoptable throughout the day for a donation.
