Viktor Arvidsson will miss Thursday’s duel between the Edmonton Oilers and the Nashville Predators (9 p.m. ET, SNW, FDSNSO) due to an undisclosed injury.
The 31-year-old striker did not train on Wednesday, taking advantage of a day of treatment. However, he was again absent during Thursday’s morning skate at Rogers Place.
“He will not play tonight,” confirmed coach Kris Knoblauch, who added that the Oilers would not recall a forward for the game against the Predators. “We’re going to use a formation of 11 forwards and seven defensemen, and we expect him to be ready to play on Saturday.
“It changes the rotations quite a bit and there are players who will have to be used more often. We will manage this collectively. »
Knoblauch is hopeful to see Arvidsson in uniform when the Oilers travel to Toronto to face the Maple Leafs on Saturday (7 p.m. ET, CBC, SNO, SNP, NHLN).
“It’s short term,” said the coach. We are really talking about a case evaluated on a daily basis for Arvidsson. We expect it to be ready this weekend. »
Arvidsson has five points (two goals, three assists) in 16 games since joining the Oilers as a free agent this off-season.
