Prime Minister Gabriel Attal assured on BFMTV that the “extreme left” and “the extreme left” were presenting candidates in the legislative elections whom he accuses of complacency with anti-Semitism.

Two “extremes” accused by the Prime Minister of spreading anti-Semitic hatred in the middle of the electoral campaign. Gabriel Attal shared on BFMTV this Thursday, June 20 that “his conviction is that political leaders must always place barriers in the face of anti-Semitism, racism, homophobia” but regrets to note “that this does not is not the case in all political families and I deplore it.

“Anti-Semitism has its candidates in these legislative elections, we see it on the far left with La France insoumise (…), you have it on the far right too,” argued the Prime Minister on our antenna.

“There must be a recovery on the left”

The Prime Minister was originally reacting to the “atrocious” ordeal suffered by a 12-year-old girl on Friday in Courbevoie, who notably suffered several rapes and other acts of violence while being held captive. He estimated that the climate of anti-Semitism in France was largely fueled by political parties.

“There must be a recovery on the left,” he asked, denouncing the union between the Socialist Party and LFI in the New Popular Front. “A few days ago, Jean-Luc Mélenchon affirmed that anti-Semitism is ‘residual’ in France. How can we say that it is residual when since October 7, it has regained strength like never before?”

Gabriel Attal said he was “sad” as a politician who “comes from the left”, in this case the Socialist Party, because “the left has always fought against racism and anti-Semitism “.

Attal asks to “exit” certain rebellious elected officials

In this respect, he welcomed the decision of outgoing left-wing deputies who refused to join the New Popular Front, such as the socialist Jérôme Guedj who slammed the door of Nupes after having clashed with the rebels over anti-Semitism.

The Prime Minister thus called to “exit” the rebellious elected officials who would have shown anti-Semitic connections, recalling that some have been heard in the context of investigations for advocating terrorism, like the president of the rebellious group at the National Assembly Mathilde Panot as well as Rima Hassan, recently elected on the rebellious list during the European elections.
