With the arrival of fine weather, the municipal urban cleanliness department is working twice as hard. Starting in March 2024, a large part of the city’s streets will be successively affected by this cleaning operation, which involves intensive mechanical washing and sweeping.
Just like safety, cleanliness is a priority for the city of Roubaix. In addition to the “classic” cleaning carried out in each street approximately once a week, targeted actions, including enhanced street cleaning, are being implemented.

What is a reinforced street cleaning plan?
The actions of reinforced cleaning are part of the desire to make the city cleaner and complement the “classic” cleaning carried out in each street approximately once a week.
They consist of a thorough cleaning of the roadwaythe sidewalk and the gutter including the weedingthe passage of a sweeper and the high pressure washing.
This large-scale operation carried out by the City’s Cleanliness department teams requires the involvement of residents:
- before cleaning by respecting the ban on parking on the day (i.e. from the evening before) under penalty of impoundment;
- after cleaning by respecting a few rules of cleanliness: do not throw your rubbish on the ground (use the street bins provided for this purpose), regularly clean and weed the sidewalk and gutter in front of your house (this is an obligation set out in the municipal police regulations) and do not leave your rubbish bins on the sidewalk outside of collection days.
