“Once upon a time in Besançon…” with the Tourist Office

Until October 31, the guided tours of the Grand Besançon Métropole Tourist Office take us to discover Besançon and its surroundings. Each tour is more original, enriching and exotic than the last.

By bike or on foot, free or not, short or long, with or without tasting, dramatized or not, in French, English or German, in Besançon or in neighboring towns, the guided tours of the Tourist Office reinvent each year with inspiration the discovery of the city and its surroundings.

In the footsteps of celebrities (Colette, Pergaud, Proudhon, etc.), storming the forts, following in the footsteps of the Bien Urbain festival, searching for enigmas along the streets, strolling around fountains, sculpted doors or the work of Vauban, scientific, artistic or 100% natural, these outings commented by the team of speakers explore the treasures, salient or confidential, which make up our urban landscape and our natural environment.

In line with the season’s event programming, these tours highlight significant periods, heritage elements, and snippets of history. Among them, two tours explore Besançon during the Renaissance and Besançon during the Age of Enlightenment. In tribute to the arrival of Monet’s painting at the Museum of Fine Arts, “Le Déjeuner sur l’herbe” (Luncheon on the Grass), which features the Ornan painter Gustave Courbet, theme days will be organized around the two artists.

Immersive experiences and unique opportunities to delve into the intimacy, past and cultural news of the city.
