He settled into his role as deputy. A bill for “restore authority” of juvenile justice, tabled by the head of the Renaissance deputies Gabriel Attal, was included on Tuesday, November 12, on the agenda of the National Assembly on December 2.

This text composed of five articles is intended to be a response to the riots of the summer of 2023 which “had a profound impact on our country”explains the former Prime Minister in the preamble. The death of young Nahel, killed by a police officer in , had triggered several nights of violence in working-class neighborhoods, sometimes caused by perpetrators who were barely teenagers.

“In order to give justice the means to act against this minority”Gabriel Attal first proposes to “empowering parents of young delinquents” with new sanctions – community service, fine, reimbursement of damages caused by the child.

The head of the EPR (Together for the Republic) deputies also wants “create an immediate appearance procedure for minors” and make it exceptional “mitigation of sentence” beyond 16 years in the event of a repeat offense, and more specifically for “the most serious offenses”. The court would therefore no longer have to justify rejecting this “minority excuse”but to motivate its application.
