Change of ownership at the Braised Golden Chicken restaurant. It reopened on March 10 under the direction of Valériane Tricot and Farzad Sharifi. The restaurant specializes in charcoal-cooked chicken to eat in or take away. It will now offer a little more choice on the menu with kebabs, burgers, Afghan rice (with onions, tomato sauce and spices), chicken wings, chicken chika curry as well as some sweets. The establishment wants to differentiate itself thanks to a very late opening, until 2 a.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings.

Isolated minor

If Valériane is originally from Quimper, Farzad, also cousin of Valériane’s companion, has a more atypical background. He arrived at the age of 12 in Paris and at 13 in Quimper as an unaccompanied minor. Left Afghanistan, his country of origin, to flee the Taliban with his family. It was separated during the crossing of the Aegean Sea, between Turkey and Greece. “We weren’t on the same boat,” he says. There wasn’t enough room in theirs, so I got into another one with a cousin. My parents’ boat was caught, mine wasn’t.” His parents, brother and two sisters were brought back to Afghanistan. He continued the journey alone.

Two years at MerAlliance

“When I arrived in Quimper, I was placed in a foster home and I was able to go to school,” continues in impeccable French the man who experienced fear and solitude. I completed a BEP in commerce and a professional sales baccalaureate before starting a BTS in sales. It helped me do the market research to open the restaurant.” Farzad also worked at MerAlliance for two years to put some money aside to get started and above all to send money to his family who still live in hiding in Afghanistan.

After two months of work, the new partners reopened Le chicken d’or braisé on March 10. “The activity during the first two months did not generate salaries, but it is working well now. I have good hope for this month,” smiles the young man with great courage and determination.
