On Saturday and Sunday, the Castres Roller Derby #81 club celebrates its tenth anniversary with a special event, a roller disco. An opportunity to highlight this 100% fun discipline.

The weekend of June 29 and 30 promises to be eventful at the Fitelle gymnasium in Castres. The Castres Roller Derby #81 club, with their team the Black Crows, is celebrating its tenth anniversary with an exceptional event: Once Upon a Jam. Founded in 2013, this year the club is organizing the seventh edition of this sporting and friendly meeting, marking its ten years of existence with unique festivities.

Delphine, known on the track as “Deydey Struction”, has been a key player at the club since 2019 and a member of the office for four years: “This year is special, it’s our ‘derbyversary’, she explains .

Two days of matches and inclusion

During these two days, mixed teams, men’s+ and women’s+ (the name they use to include everyone), will compete in a series of friendly matches. The teams from Castres, Narbonne, Tarbes and players from the Toulouse region will be present.

“There is no maximum age, there are players who are almost 50 years old,” says Delphine, emphasizing the inclusiveness of this sport. The matches will take place on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., followed by a roller disco from 8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. “It will be a bright and musical evening open to all,” she adds. Participants will be able to rent equipment on site and a disco-themed costume contest is also planned.

On Sunday, the festivities continue with a “triple header”, three big matches pitting

Full Metal Punket from Tarbes, Block Nostra from Toulouse and Black Crows from Castres.

The matches will take place at 10am, 1pm and 4pm, each lasting one hour.

Throughout the weekend, various activities will be offered: raffle, games on skates

such as curling with skate wheels, and the “Queen of the Track”, a competition where the

The last skater remaining on the track is crowned the winner.

For those with a sweet tooth, a refreshment bar will offer sweet treats. The “Au p’tit” food truck
