Less than a month before the Olympic Games, the children did theirs at the Pyrenees complex.

The opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games will take place on Friday July 26 in the heart of Paris. Last Wednesday, exactly one month before this ceremony, Bram was already vibrating to the rhythm of this global event with the 3rd edition of “Olympic Day” which, like the previous ones, took place at the Saint-Exupéry sports complex. It brought together nearly 300 young people.

With Corentin Ducombs

The day was launched by the Bramais athlete Corentin Ducombs, who had the honour of carrying the Olympic flame during his visit to Castelnaudary on 16 May and who is already preparing to take part in the Paralympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028. The pupils from the elementary school, those from the senior sections of the nursery school, and from the SESSADs of western Aude attached to the Sainte-Gemme centre were present.

Throughout the morning, around fifteen workshops were held by the Bramais associations, the outdoor service of the Aude departmental council and the equipment supplier Décathlon. They allowed children to discover certain disciplines and take part in activities around the values of sport and Olympism, to try judo, handball, rugby, basketball, tennis, archery, cycling, etc. They were also made aware of the importance of healthy nutrition, then immortalized this day by having their photo taken alongside Phryge, the mascot of these games, with their medal around their neck. In the afternoon, it was the children’s and teenagers’ leisure centers, and other young people from Bramais or neighboring villages who, in turn, came to meet the associations and/or speakers.

Neighborhood aperitif. The 3rd meeting of the “Aperos de quartier” is this Friday. It concerns the residents of the circulade. The meeting is set on the forecourt of the church from 7 p.m.
