A year after his departure from RC Lens, Tom Ducrocq continued to make his mark on the Bastia side. It now remains to be seen whether the time has not come for the big leap for the midfielder who is heading into what will undoubtedly be a decisive summer. Explanations.

A full season for Tom Ducrocq

Following three convincing loans, Tom Ducrocq was permanently transferred to Bastia last summer, following a successful season in Ligue 2, both personally (32 matches) and collectively (4th). If the 2023/2024 vintage was more sluggish for Sporting, which even struggled to maintain its position in the second half of the season, the level of performance of its midfielder remained quite high.

As indisputable as ever, Tom Ducrocq contested 35 matches (34 starts), his best total over a season since his debut, for almost 3000 minutes played and 3 assists. And apart from a small drop in performance at the start of spring, the former RC Lens midfielder still made a very good impression within a team that was sometimes in difficulty. The native of Nordausques also knew how to gain the trust of Michael Morettipromoted to the bench after the dismissal of Régis Brouard at the end of January.

Twelfth in the end, Bastia is now at the dawn of a new cycle, with the return of Frédéric Antonetti as technical director. In all likelihood, it should be accompanied by Benoit Tavenot, his former assistant at Metz, about to become the new coach of Sporting. It remains to be seen whether the latter will have the opportunity to train Tom Ducrocq, who is entering his last year of contract in Corsica. To be continued.
