OM forced to share the Vélodrome, it’s hot

OM fans are undoubtedly impatient to witness the next Ligue 1 season under the orders of Roberto De Zerbi. The Stade Vélodrome is ready to roar for the Italian’s debut.

Roberto De Zerbi will arrive at OM with a lot of expectations around him. The Italian will have the ambition to finish as high as possible and qualify for the European Cup. For this, the Phocéens will need popular support at all times, whether outside their bases or at the Stade Vélodrome. A Stade Vélodrome which should make noise for the debut of De Zerbi but also for the matches… of another team from the region. Indeed, next season, OM will certainly have to share their venue.

Martigues at the Stade Vélodrome, it’s almost done

According to information from Provence, the Stade Vélodrome should host Martigues matches from August. The southern club has just moved up to Ligue 2 but will not be able to play in its usual stadium, the Stade Francis Turcan, which does not at all meet the standards desired by the league. The renovation of the Martigues stadium should be completed at the end of the year. Until then, Martigues footballers should therefore be able to take advantage of OM’s facilities to try to do well in Ligue 2. Moreover, if everything goes as planned, Martigues’ first match at the Stade Vélodrome will be against a former resident of Ligue 1, FC Lorient on the weekend of August 17. It remains to be seen whether the stadium will be full to see Martigues evolve. Note that in a few days, the Stade Vélodrome will also be used for the Top 14 final between Union Bordeaux-Bégles and Stade Toulousain, the Stade de France being occupied for the organization of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
