less than €25,000, more successful than the ë-C3?

It has become a habit at Stellantis, each electric platform is now available in all brands, which makes it possible to offer a different design to an overall similar architecture.

With the Grande Panda, Fiat is coming to Citroën to help itself and its electric ë-C3, a low-cost car faithful to the philosophy of the first Panda.

Fiat Grande Panda: a small urban SUV

For the moment it is only a series of images which have been sent to the press, because the presentation will take place on July 11 for Fiat’s 125th anniversary.

With its very square shapes and its look of a small urban SUV, the Grande Panda is immediately recognizable, particularly thanks to its light signature very inspired by the square lights of the original Panda.

On the other hand, this Great Panda is very… big for a Panda! It actually measures 3.99 m in length., or 30cm more than the classic Panda. It is in fact comparable to a Renault R5, this length also makes it possible to offer a decent trunk (320L at Citroën), compared to often less than 300L in the lower category.

The interior has not yet been revealed…

Autonomy of 300Km?

If the technical specifications have not yet been communicatedthere is a good chance that they will be close to those of the ë-C3, namely:

• 83kW motor (around 113hp)
• Battery 44 kWh
Range of 320 km WLTP
• Fast charging at 100kW
20 to 80% in 26 minutes
• 11kW AC charger

So this would be perfectly correct for the city and peri-urban, and we can even consider long journeys, thanks to fairly fast charging. On the highway, however, do not expect to exceed 200Km, to be confirmed during our tests of course.

Mac4Ever’s opinion

The look is nice, it seems well built and practical, the Grande Panda fits well with the demands of customers, now largely fans of urban SUVs.

At less than €25,000, there is no doubt that it should find a buyer, even if it is still expensive for a city car with limited autonomy. After all, why shouldn’t small cars allow you to go on a stress-free weekend, as is already the case with thermal cars?

I also remain quite mixed when we talk about the electrical architectures of Stellantis, especially in winter and long journeys, where the absence of battery preconditioning is very detrimental to the charging speed. Furthermore, multi-energy platforms generate additional constraints (central tunnel, no frunk, etc.) which would not be appropriate for 100% electric. Finally, as we saw with the 3008, connectivity is still very average, even on the latest Stellantis systems, which further complicates long journeys (search for a terminal, etc.)

And you ? Would you buy this Grande Panda for less than €25,000 and 300 km of autonomy?
