While more and more Departments are in the red, that of Marne is no exception. Last month, its president, Jean-Marc Roze, once again sounded the alarm, announcing that “the situation (was) serious”. Since then, savings measures have followed one another, such as the reduction of the winter service plan, the non-renewal of retiring agents, or the postponement, or even elimination, of certain investments.
An announcement has been added to this savings plan: the Department has decided to cancel its greeting ceremonies, those for agents and that for constituted bodies, which was planned for January 17 at the Capitol, in Châlons-en-Champagne. This is traditionally joint with that of the prefect: the Department and State services share the room, the guest list, and the bill.

Other communities are considering canceling their ceremonies
The elected official assures that he is not “not the only one”among the executive chefs, to draw a line under champagne and petit fours this year. “During the Congress of Departments, a few days ago in Angers, many counterparts told me that they too were considering canceling their wishes. »
The two ceremonies in question cost a total of 17,000 euros: 15,000 for the wishes to the bodies and a little more than 2000 for the wishes to the agents.
