Senior high school students are preparing to take the first important exam of their lives. The start of the philosophy baccalaureate test will be given tomorrow, Tuesday June 18, 2024, at 10 a.m.
11,902 candidates registered for the baccalaureate will have four hours to write an essay or an explanation of the text. This Monday, it’s time for final revisions. While some high school students are stressed, others are more relaxed.
At the Jean Joly high school, in Rivière Saint-Louis, the philosophy test is taken seriously by baccalaureate candidates.
Adrien rested last weekend. He admits to having taken full advantage of Father’s Day Sunday, before immersing himself fully again in his revisions. “We revise and then that’s it, we’ll see what happens,” he says.
“Even if I know that, according to certain sources, you should not revise a few days before, you should rather relax apparently. Me, in my current situation, I cannot afford not to revise, knowing that I I know I’m still missing a lot of ideas.”testifies Adrien.
“The problem is that I tend to favor specialties instead of philosophy, laments Adrien, with his revision sheets in hand. When it’s over, we’ll wait for the results, we’ll say to ourselves that we’ve done the best and then that’s it, we’ll see how it goes.”
Same story for Valentin. No respite for him either. He is seriously preparing for a SVT-physics baccalaureate: “I still continue the revisions. Even if I revise the specialty tests more, I don’t give up on philosophy. I’m not likely to stress. I prefer to arrive calmly and see what there is according to the subjects . I would love to come across happiness or religion.”
For his part, Maxime said to himself “ready” to show the extent of his talents for the philosophy test. “I’m ready to fight. I’m ready to expose my abilities in broad daylight. I can say that I’m ready for the philosophy baccalaureate”, insists the young high school student. There is still a little pressure, even if I am not stressed.

He prefers to focus his revisions on the methodology of the dissertation or text commentary. “I’m looking at the information on the parts and sub-parts that we will have to cover. I’m revising on the internet since we haven’t had too many philosophy lessons this year”confides Maxime.
After the baccalaureate, the young man wishes to move towards a BTS design and production of automatic systems. For now, he is first on the waiting list. The young man strongly hopes to join this course at the start of the next school year.

- From July 9 to 10, 2024: the tests for the second group of general and technological baccalaureates
