The observation is clear, but somewhat discouraging. In Switzerland, more than six out of ten bottles of wine consumed come from abroad. Three countries take the lion’s share: Italy, France and Spain. Between them, they represent 83% of foreign wines drunk on Swiss territory. So yes, from Bordeaux to Tuscany, via Piedmont, Burgundy, Rioja or Priorat, we find wonderful products. But Swiss wines have nothing to be ashamed of! Alternatives to these foreign grands crus exist here. And they are just as good (or even better, if you are a bit chauvinistic).
