It’s not every day that Marc Dutroux agrees to speak to the press. Especially when the question asked is a tricky one: “did you act on behalf of someone?”
After examining the cases of Michel Fourniret and Nordahl Lelandais, Karl Zéro now devotes its 12th issue to Marc Dutroux, public enemy number one in Belgium. Karl Zéro is a notable figure in French media with notable appearances on Canal + and Nulle Part Ailleurs, as well as Europe 1 and BFMTV. He is also known for his talents as a writer, satirist and director. In 2007, he was awarded a César for his documentary “In the Skin of Jacques Chirac”. At the same time, he is involved in criminal journalism through his magazine “L’Envers desaffaires”.
Karl Zéro returns to the Dutroux affair because he suspects Belgian justice of not having followed through. For him, the question of the criminal network has been forgotten. This is why he decided to meet different players in the case, such as a police officer and witnesses. In his video, he explains that he “shed light on this great dark side”.

The journalist also explains that he only had an epistolary exchange with Marc Dutroux and his lawyer: “I was able to send him my questions. He took his time to answer me. Besides, he didn’t exactly answer me,” explains the journalist. “As a response, I received a whole bunch of documents and handwritten pages where he explained to me his version and his vision of the affair. His writing was messy and he was going all over the place.”
The journalist nevertheless recalls that: “Dutroux only responds to what he wants. Everything that is against him in his file is unbearable for him. He has a tendency to clear his customs. reading it looks like he didn’t do anything. But some passages are so atrocious that I could not exploit them”.
