They will live in the hypoxic chambers of Prémanon – Sports Infos – Ski

Throughout this week, Cyril Burdet, Patrick Favre and Jean Paul Giachino will work on the Prémanon site with the biathletes of the France A team.

All the girls are present with the notable exception of Julia Simon. The four-time world champion has just spent several days in Norway where she was notably invited to the wedding of Ingrid Tandrevold, now Madame Markset.

This course will be based primarily on technique, whether for the roller skiing part or the shooting part. Numerous very targeted exercises will be put in place by the coaches.

Several physical tests are also planned because the staff absolutely wants to know where the girls are after a month and a half of “free” preparation.

Another important point, this week will allow part of the group to work in hypoxia, with daily work carried out at 1100m and life much higher, at an altitude chosen by the coaches.

Over the past 10 years, hypoxia has become one of the essential methods for preparing athletes for competitions.

In order to offer a complete offer and adapt to the needs of athletes, the center now has multiple rooms and spaces that can simulate altitudes of up to more than 3000m.

For this, the completely airtight room is equipped with a compressor which removes the oxygen molecules to force the body to react by increasing the production of red blood cells.

“The goal is to get each athlete to their peak form for competition or to manage the grueling end of the season. The beneficial effects are immediate and can last several weeks”explains Laurent Schmitt, head of the performance-research division.

The center of Prémanon has: an entire chalet composed of a living room/kitchen area and 4 bedrooms with 2 beds – a floor made up of 8 bedrooms with 2 beds and a living room/kitchen/dining room adjoining the bedrooms .
