Road safety: Essonne hit by several fatal accidents this weekend

This weekend of June 8 to 9 was the scene of a massacre on the roads of Essonne. Two men aged around thirty lost their lives in traffic accidents in Fleury-Mérogis and Évry-Courcouronnes.

The first drama took place during the night from Friday to Saturday. Around 2:15 a.m., firefighters intervened in a public road accident which took place on rue Édouard-Aubert in Fleury-Mérogis involving a single vehicle. On site, they discovered a victim: a 38-year-old man who could not be resuscitated despite the emergency services and the intervention of the Smur of Juvisy-sur-Orge.

Due to the darkness, emergency services used a thermal camera to ensure that no other victims were on the scene. During their intervention, traffic was interrupted in the street and restored a little after 4 a.m. An investigation to determine the causes of this accident was entrusted to the gendarmerie.

Fleury-Mérogis, June 8, 2024. A 38-year-old man died in an accident on the Édouard Aubert circrue in Fleury-Mérogis.

The second traffic accident occurred this Sunday morning around 6:30 a.m. A motorist aged around thirty died in an accident which, again, only seems to have involved his vehicle while he was traveling on the A6 motorway near Évry-Courcouronnes in the Paris-province direction. . Traffic was interrupted on both lanes of the highway until the end of the emergency response, around 7:30 a.m. And access to the N 104 (Francilienne) was cut until around noon. The police are responsible for clarifying the circumstances of this accident.

On Saturday afternoon, a 50-year-old man also died while driving. He was near the Ballancourt-sur-Essonne recycling center when he hit a 20,000-volt high-voltage pole, probably after feeling unwell. The incident blocked access to the recycling center (which remained closed throughout Sunday). Several dozen people inside had to wait more than six hours before being able to leave by car. Around fifty homes were also without electricity until around 10 p.m.
