A refusal to comply turned into a tragedy in Clamart (Hauts-de-Seine), when a teenager caused a fatal accident while being chased by the police, on the night of Monday June 3 to Tuesday June 4 .

BAC police officers spot a supposedly stolen car. At the wheel, a boy of only 14 years old who refuses to stop. Chased on the highway, he lost control and hit a car coming in the opposite direction. The 34-year-old driver died instantlywhile the teenager is only slightly injured.

In Fresnes, in the neighborhood where the miner who caused the collision lived, his friends spent the afternoon sitting in a circle, talking. His childhood friend Kevin is leaning against a car. He still has a hard time believing it. “Frankly, he wasn’t in too much trouble. He was nice, he went to school. There he was going to get his certificate. I didn’t think he was capable of doing stuff like that“, describes the young man, who specifies that he was “shocked” and that he “thought he was dreaming” when he heard the news.

This portrait, the Créteil public prosecutor’s office is in the process of verifying it. According to the first elements of the investigation, the teenager was already convicted six months ago for a very violent theft.

In Clamart, where the victim lived, there is amazement. The one nicknamed “Bidou” in his neighborhood was known to everyone. At the foot of her building, a lot of people, family friends, like Angélique. “He worked all the time. His mother is divorced and took care of the children. He was really good. It’s very sad. It’s unfortunate,” she testifies, moved.
