Predator: Elle Fanning in the next film in the franchise?

We have known for several months, a new film Predator is in the pipeline. Titled Badlandsit should begin filming this summer, and the project has just moved forward with the first information regarding the casting.

From the Serie The Great has Predator

And it is Elle Fanning who is currently in discussions with 20th Century Studios to play the main role in the film. Aged 26, the American actress already has an impressive career, with films by great filmmakers to her credit.

Alongside the best known Maleficent Or Super 8we thus find the films Babel by Alejandro Innaritu, Already seen by Tony Scott, The preys And Somewhere by Sofia Coppola, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button by David Fincher, Twixt by Francis Ford Coppola, or even The Neon Demon by Nicolas Winding Refn.

We recently saw her in the very successful series The Great (for which she received an Emmy nomination) and she is set to appear in the video game Death Stranding 2: On the Beach by Hideo Kojima. A very nice CV therefore, for the new iteration of a franchise back from the dead.

Indeed, after two mediocre films in 2010 (Predators) and 2018 (The Predator), the saga initiated in 1987 by John McTiernan regained interest in 2022 with the film “standalone” Prey, released directly on the Disney+ streaming platform. The action took place in 1719 in Comanche territory, and followed the young warrior Naru as she faces the alien.

It is also its director Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane) which comes back to the staging of Badlandsin addition to co-writing it with Patrick Aison (Jack Ryan, Prey). While the details of the story are still unknown, we know that it should take place in the future.

parallel to BadlandsA Prey 2 is also in the pipeline, with the return of actress Amber Midthunder in the lead role. If the previous film was released on Disney+, it would seem that its public and critical success encouraged 20th Century Studios to favor a theatrical release for the next films. Just like the next film in the Alien saga, moreover, scheduled for August 14 in theaters.
