The results are dramatic. Three 19-year-olds did not survive a road accident during the night of this Saturday to Sunday June 2 at Libourne, in Gironde. The other two passengers in the car, two young people aged 17 and 18were seriously injured.
The vital prognosis of a fourth victim engaged
The latter were transported in absolute emergency to the Libourne hospital center. One of the two is between life and death according to Philippe Buisson, the mayor of the town.
The fifth victim “suffers from numerous fractures but his vital prognosis is not engaged“, specifies the Libourne public prosecutor’s office in a press release.
The car found on the side of the road
According to the Gironde firefighters, called at 2:39 a.m., the car – which was transporting the five young people – left the road on the departmental 1,089, at the Libourne ring road, on a straight section.
According to the mayor, the car hit a tree in an extremely violent manner.
The police quickly went to the scene. The departmental road was cut in both directions while the emergency services intervened.
Investigation opened for manslaughter
An investigation has been opened for manslaughter according to the prosecution. It is entrusted to the brigade communities of Libourne.
“Investigations are underway to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.” specifies Loïs Raschel, the public prosecutor.
