A major step towards the country’s industrial autonomy

Equipped with the latest generation equipment, the PROGAZ Unit factory has the capacity to produce 600,000 gas bottles per year, thus meeting the growing needs of the national market and making it possible to considerably reduce imports. This technological feat is part of the Métales group’s desire to contribute to the modernization of Cameroonian industry and the emergence of cutting-edge local know-how.

Beyond its technological dimension, the PROGAZ Unit factory is of major socio-economic importance. The construction of this infrastructure required an investment of 18 billion CFA francs and enabled the creation of 250 direct and indirect jobs. This major project thus contributes to the dynamic of economic development and the fight against unemployment in Cameroon.

With the inauguration of this factory, the Prometal group confirms its ambition to position itself as a world leader in the steel industry. Control of the gas cylinder production chain, from the manufacture of steel to the marketing of the finished product, constitutes an undeniable strategic asset for the group, allowing it to increase its competitiveness on the international market.

The advent of PROGAZ Unit marks a crucial step in Cameroon’s march towards industrial autonomy. Local manufacturing of gas cylinders reduces dependence on imports, stimulates the national economy and creates added value in the region. This major project illustrates Cameroon’s desire to position itself as a major player in the African industrial sector.
