He was a force of nature – Édouard, grandson of Jean-Pierre Ferland

Met at the ardent chapel at the end of the afternoon, one of Jean-Pierre Ferland’s grandchildren, Édouard, also had only good words for the man he knew as grandpa Jean-Pierre.

He had a dynamic sense of humor and a lot of energy, he was a force of nature. I have many good memories of him during the holidays, or at the sugar shack. He brought a certain soul and energy wherever he wentexplained the young man, who affirms that The music is his favorite song from his grandfather’s repertoire.

It touched several generations, even people of my generation. I think he’ll stay with us for a while longer.

He was one of the great -Gilles Duceppe

Among the politicians who came to pay tribute to Jean-Pierre Ferland, we include Gilles Duceppe, former leader of the Bloc Québécois, who we could see in the middle of the afternoon.

These are authentic songs, they come to get you. He’s one of the greats, and he took care of his people. I heard testimony this morning about having a musician on his tour who had serious drinking problems, but wanted to do the tour anyway. And he took care of the guy the whole tourhe said.

    Yellow flowers from Céline Dion

Céline Dion maintained a special relationship with Jean-Pierre Ferland, who also wrote a few songs for her, including I do not need love, composed with the help of his faithful collaborator Daniel Mercure. If the singer was not present in the flesh during the funeral service, she still left a bouquet of yellow flowers for her friend, accompanied by a farewell note.

You wrote me kisses that light me up better than all the stars. Court life took you away with the love notebooks from my room at the Hôtel Saint-Amant. The women you loved so much are sad. The night goes to bed crying. Goodbye Jean-Pierre. I will always love you…

A monument of Quebec culture, according to Mathieu Lacombe

For the Minister of Culture and Communications, Mathieu Lacombe, who was also present Friday morning, Jean-Pierre Ferland ranks in the category of monuments of Quebec culture.

He is part of this generation of artists and great Quebecers, great Quebecers, who built cultural Quebec, the Quebec cultural scene and Quebec culture, at a time when everything had to be built, at a time when the Place des Arts did not exist, at a time when we not only had no cultural infrastructure, but we did not have a musical sceneunderlined the minister.
