A collision between a heavy truck and another vehicle left at least one victim.

A major collision between a heavy truck and a vehicle left at least one victim shortly before 12:30 p.m. on Route 155 between Carignan and Rivière-aux-Rats, a little south of La Tuque. Following the impact, the minivan was buried under the heavy goods vehicle and a fire broke out.
Sergeant Éloïse Cossette, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec, confirms that at least one victim was on board the vehicle. So far we have one victim
she says. Work will continue to try to find out who this person is and ensure that there are no other people in the wrecked vehicle.

An expertise will follow to determine the cause of this accident, but it sure is major
, indicates Sergeant Cossette. As for the driver of the heavy truck, he suffered only minor injuries.
Route 155 was closed to traffic until 5 p.m. Since then, this has been done alternately.

The Ministry of Transport and the Sûreté du Québec are currently studying alternative solutions to reopen traffic.
SQ reconstructionists are on site and SOPFEU was also dispatched to the scene to contain a fire which had spread into the surrounding woods.
Around 2,000 Hydro-Québec customers were also without power until 1:30 p.m., according to the SQ.
