Three months before the start of the Paralympic Games, 53-year-old Jallaisian Thierry Joussaume climbed to the highest step of the podium by winning European gold on Friday May 24 in Rome. A first individual medal on the international circuit for the archer who is a member of the Cholet Archery Club (TAC).

He thus becomes the first French para-archer to be crowned individually in the Open compound bow category. During the final, Thierry Joussaume faced the Ukrainian Ivan Dziadyk and won with the final score of 142 points to 140.
