A fire broke out this Sunday, October 20 in a warehouse of an abandoned factory in Langeac.

A fire broke out this Sunday, October 20, late in the afternoon, in an abandoned warehouse in the Chambaret activity zone, in Langeac. Informed around 6 p.m., emergency services quickly went to the scene, rue des Mineurs.

The flames had caught on pallets of cardboard bags, in a building with a surface area of ​​approximately 2,000 m². This one, located within the perimeter of the disused GSC (Global Solution Charcoal) coal production plant, had begun to attack a wall of the vast metal structure.

Seventeen cubic meters of bags burned

Approximately 17 cubic meters of empty charcoal bags burned before the flames were extinguished. Firefighters were able to save a forklift present at the scene. No one was hurt. Once the fire was extinguished, firefighters spread out the empty bags to ensure they had drowned the fire.

Seventeen firefighters, from the emergency centers of Langeac, Saint-Georges-Mazeyrat, Siaugues-Sainte-Marie and Brioude were on the scene, placed under the orders of Lieutenant Alain Thomas de Brioude. As well as the gendarmerie, Enedis, GRDF and the mayor of Langeac, Gérard Beaud.
