The Minister of Ecological Transition announced that a state of natural disaster will be declared within two weeks, in the towns ravaged by recent floods.

A few hundred residents are still without electricity today after the floods which affected central-eastern , Agnès Pannier-Runacher announced to the Grand Jury. “They are still there today because their homes are disconnected from any network», Underlines the Minister of Ecological Transition. Several hundred homes were also affected by the floods.in various capacities“, that is to say both flooded cellars or houses “ravaged” by floods.

«People can no longer live in their homes, deplores the minister. In the or Ardèche where I went, I saw neighborhoods which are cut off from all networks. People cannot physically reach the city center because it is surrounded by water. They no longer have electricity or drinking water. The houses are uninhabitable. We will have to rebuild and rehouse these people.»

Therefore, the elected officials of the affected towns are demanding that the state of natural disaster, which allows reimbursement procedures by insurers to be accelerated, be decreed. “We must convene a “natural disaster” commission which will judge the importance of the floods. At the same time, the Minister of the Interior may declare a state of natural disaster, specifying which municipalities are concerned. This is an operation lasting two weeks maximum.
