???????? Seine-et-Marne. He places a gas bottle in the stolen ambulance and tries to commit suicide by blowing it up, but the police prevent him from doing so.

On Thursday, a tragedy was narrowly avoided on the road between Nandy and Savigny-le-Temple, where a 40-year-old ambulance driver, in complete psychological distress, attempted suicide by causing an explosion. The police courageously intervened to control him and prevent a catastrophe.

Suicide attempt by explosion foiled

Around 1:35 p.m., this man, employed in an ambulance company in Savigny-le-Temple, stole a Skoda Octavia type vehicle and placed a gas bottle in the front passenger seat, with the intention of setting off an explosion. His colleagues, realizing the seriousness of the situation, immediately alerted the police. The message was relayed quickly, and a patrol from the accident brigade located the fleeing vehicle.

Dangerous chase between Savigny-le-Temple and Nandy

The ambulance driver refused to comply and began a chase on the D50, crossing two forest road barriers to enter the Sénart woods. He then zigzagged on a two-lane road, hitting another vehicle in the process. Several police crews are mobilized to try to stop him. When he appears to stop, the police approach to arrest him, but the man drives off again and hits a police vehicle.

Heroic police intervention prevents explosion

The crazy race ends when he gets stuck in a ditch. The police got out of their vehicle and noticed that the man was trying to light a lighter near the gas cylinder, while a strong smell of gas was already escaping from the vehicle. With coolness and heroism, two police officers break the windows of the vehicle and extract the man, who resists violently. During the intervention, one of the police officers was injured in the hand and the other received a cut on the forehead.

Compulsory hospitalization after psychiatric evaluation

After his arrest, the paramedic, visibly in a state of mental distress, was placed in police custody at the hospital. He made incoherent comments and was examined by a psychiatrist, who diagnosed a total abolition of his discernment. Police custody was therefore lifted, and the man was automatically hospitalized. No legal action will be taken in this matter.
