Durant son intervention, Hicham El Habti underlined the key role of UM6P in training talents for the professions of tomorrow. “The UM6P today has more than 7,200 studentsenviron 1,000 doctoral students et 550 engineersall trained in direct connection with the needs of the market, particularly in sectors of the future such as hydrogen, green energy, batteries, and gigafactories,” he said.

He also insisted on the fact that the majority of UM6P winners choose to stay in Morocco. According to him, this is explained by three main reasons: first of all, a narrative promoting opportunities in Morocco upon their arrival at university; then, an educational approach based on “Learning by doing” [apprendre en faisant, ndlr] ; finally, strong support via incubation and support programs for start-ups. “We train people ready to undertake and take risks, by showing them what the Morocco and Africa of tomorrow will be.”

He also mentioned that UM6P has set up research laboratories in close collaboration with industry, to respond to the challenges of the industrial fabric. A joint laboratory with industrialists allows the university to mobilize engineers, doctoral students and researchers.

In addition, Hicham El Habti recalled that the UM6P has a investment funds to support start-ups, with more than 300 patents filed to date. Regarding research funding, he urged the private sector to strengthen its collaboration with universities, particularly in the area of research centers.

He concluded his speech with a strong appeal: “Trust research centers, whether public or private, and you will be pleasantly surprised!”
