Artus cash on the defect of the Cannes Film Festival
In the portrait of Liberation released this Friday, October 18, Artus looked back on his success and the presentation of his film at the Cannes Film Festival. A screening which was not planned and which caused a lot of reaction, in particular because of the luxury brands which refused to dress the actors in the film. “The film had already reached five million admissions when Thierry Frémaux [le délégué général du Festival, ndlr] was still finding out which of the gang was Artus. We clearly saw that we were pissing everyone off, in a context where comedy remains perceived as a subculture, with the hypocrisy that entails when popularity reaches such a level that we can no longer ignore you . The criticism would not have been the same if the film had been by Vincent Dedienne or Panayotis Pascot, who have the credits. This is how” he said.
Artus: this other event that he doesn’t appreciate
If his experience at the Cannes Film Festival was not the best, Artus also has a problem with another big event, the Telethon. “I’m not going to say that I’m fighting against the Telethon, because we’re fighting for the same thing in truth. But I struggle with the way people look at them during this event. No point in making disability miserable“, he declared in the columns of France Sunday.
